Suggest Treatment For Hemorrhoids If Topical Ointment Doesn't Work?

I have always had a hemmoroid problem, well since my early 20's. In the last 10 years however, My stool has been inconsistantly bloody sometimes bright, sometimes dark and now everytime I go to the restroom I have flat stool, sometimes dark blood, Always have a discharge and a flare up of pain or hemmoriods. I have been seeing an increase in the last 3 years and now im starting to be very concerned.. the last doctor I talked to said It was hemmoroids but now im not so sure as the topical ointment he prescribed me never worked.
