Hi,I am Dr. Santosh Kondekar (Pediatrician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My 4 year old was diagnosed with herpangina 5 days ago. We caught it just as the red dots were on her palate. Today she is really raspy. She has been fever free for 3 days and the ulcers are healing. Is this just a side effect of the virus, or could there be damage?
Hi.. you need not worry. Herpangina is a self limiting viral illness. It is caused by Coxsackie virus. As the ulcers are already healing - you need not worry. It is just the natural course of the disease Herpangina and there will not be any damage.
