Suggest Treatment For Hole In Gums And Sensitivity In Teeth

Hi I have a small hole in my gums on the bottom front. All the teeth above are extremely sensitive and painful. My jaw is getting tight and my chin feels swollen and so tender that it hurts to touch. All my teeth are hurting. I grind my teeth at night

Thanks for your query. I have gone through your query.
The swelling in the chin and hole in the gums can be because of the pus discharging sinus tract secondary to tooth or gum infection. The sensitivity in the teeth can be because of the exposed root surface of the teeth because of the recessed gums.
Nothing to be panic, consult a oral physician and get it evaluated. Get a radiograph done in relation to lower teeth and confirm the diagnosis. Later once the diagnosis is confirmed, it can be treated accordingly.
Mean while you can take a course of antibiotics like amoxicillin and metronidazole. Do saline gargling. Get the treatment done as early as possible.
I hope my answer will help you. Take care

Dentist Dr. Lizabeth Sloane's  Response
Hello,
I suggest you try to take some anti-inflammatory medication such as Tylenol or Advil to help control your discomfort. Practice gentle but ieffectivedental hygiene including the use of toothpaste for sensitive teeth. The use of fluoride rinses may also help.
Your symptoms suggest that you have some periodontal disease. Grinding your teeth can be detrimental to your lower front teeth which have narrow roots. You may have an infection and need prescription antibiotics. I suggest that you schedule an appointment with your dentist. An exam with an x-ray will give you more information and determine treatment needed.
a nightguard can help limit grinding your teeth at night while you are sleeping. You may find one of these in the Dental section of your pharmacy. Your dentist can also make a professional grade nightguard after you have a vomete exam.
Try my suggestions and schedule a visit with your dentist to prevent your problems from getting worse. I am concerned that you have an infection and you do not want this to spread. I hope you will feel better soon. Thank you for your inquiry.
