Suggest Treatment For Hyperthyroidism

MY WIFE HAS BEEN DIAGNOSED WITH HYPERTHYROIDISM. WE DO NOT HAVE THE OPTION TO PURCHASE INSURANCE THROUGH OUR EMPLOYERS, AND ARE SEEKING SUPPLEMENT INFO. IS THERE AN ADVANTAGE TO A SUPLLEMENT MADE WITH ANIMAL PRODUCTS (ADRENAL TISSUE, ETC) OVER AN ALL ORGANIC SUPPLEMENT?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Hyperthyroidism is not treated with Levothyroxine, probably you meant hypothyroidism. For hypothyroidism, except of Levothyroxine, dissected thyroid (Armour Thyroid, Nature Thyroid etc.) can be used, if the symptoms of hypothyroidism persist with Levothyroxine even though the hormonal level is within the normal ranges. The dose should be adjusted by your physician.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
