Since you have a history of delayed bowel movement it can be due to abnormal colon nerves & fibres that causes delayed stool movement. Sluggish bowel movement are because of lack of fiber in your diet.
Take plenty of fruits, veggies, berries, whole grain cereals, brown rice, etc. Stay well hydrated, avoid oily-spicy junk food, take coffee from time to time because it has soluble fibres.
You can take herbal laxatives(Senna), or Stool softeners, laxatives before bedtime regularly. Do exercises, avoid sedentary lifestyle. Take probiotics to improve your digestive health.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
