OBGYN 's  Response
Hello,
Thanks for sharing your health concern with us. From your description, the possibilities are, 1. a piece of hymen hanging loose, 2. edematous vaginal walls protruding out into the vulval region, or 3. a septum. A proper local examination will help to decide the exact cause. If there is any infection, swabs can be taken simultaneously and a urinalysis ordered. While surgical excision is the treatment of choice for loose tissue/septa, medical management along with application of local ice packs will suffice for edematous tissue. Hope this helps.
