Suggest Treatment For Involuntary Head Shaking

hello i am a 32 y.o. male with a severe head shaking problem, my neck muscles ache and my neck is very tence, i then feel a strange feeling that fills the back of my head, then causes me to shake my head, i try to control it but its very difficult to stop, i had this as a kid for many years,it went away and has recently returned, have you heard of this problem and is there anything i can do to solve this problem, thanks

It sounds like you have a tremor, which is usually related to a problem with nerves/muscles controlling different areas of the body. Most commonly we think of hand tremors, but tremors can happen to other parts of the body, including the head, although they may be uncommon. I did see this once in a patient and referred her to a neurologist. There are certain benign and familial tremors. I suggest you see a neurologist to evaluate this. The neurologist can make a more specific diagnosis and be able to initiate any appropriate therapy that may be available to control it. Treatment could vary, depending on the underlying cause, so it is important to get a definitive diagnosis by a specialist like a neurologist. Hope this helps.
