Hallow Madam,

At the age of 46 years when the periods have become irregular, it is an indication of progress towards menopause.

At this age, Fertil pills for induction not ovulation are not indicated. In fact due to low oestrogen due to impending menopause, the lining of the endometrium gets thinned out; moreover, Fertil which contains Clomiphene citrate, further thins out the endometrium which does not allow successful implantation of the fertilized ovum. You have already given fair trial to Fertil; now please do not take it again. If at all ovulation induction is to be done, think of hCG/HMG combination, only with an advice of an Infertility consultant.

The possibilities of chromosomal abnormalities in the eggs are quite high at this age. So you should give a second thought of trying to conceive. If still you conceive, you will have to submit yourself for a battery of investigations to ascertain the chromosomal normalcy of the child.

Instead, adoption of the child may be a better option.

I hope you understand the reality.
