Suggest Treatment For Irritable Bowel Syndrome And Hemorriods

I have irritable bowel syndrome and hemorriods. Last night I had a bout of diarrhea. It started out as just diarrhea then after several trips to the bathroom, it started to become blood. By coincidence, I had a regular checkup scheduled with my general internal medicine doctor. He said that he was quite confident that it was acute gastrointitis (not sure of the spelling) and that the hemorriods were irritated. He said the bleeding may last another day or two and not to be too concerned unless any pain gets worse. Since my visit this morning to the doctor, I have used the bathroom about 8 times and each time I passed blood. It did not necessarily look like a normal diarrhea, it looked more like pure blood. Each time the blood was bright red. Should I be concerned or let it take its course like my doctor advised unless it gets worse. ---I feel like its not getting any worse, but also not improving like I thought it would.
