Suggest Treatment For Itching On Arm With Bleeding

I am experiencing itching on my arm but have no rash. The itch feels like its deep under my skin so scratching doesn t even relieve it. It wakes me up during the night & I have even drawn blood scratching in my sleep. What could this be? What should I do about it? I have been using Benadryl cream on it and also taking allergy medicine by mouth daily.

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of itching on arm with bleeding which is very common as dirt and moisture get trapped by your clothing and the friction that comes from sitting can cause pimple. It could be due to blockage of sebaceous glands leading to folliculitis or boils. Need not to worry. You should apply cream containing azelaic acid and apply cold compresses with soaked towel to reduce the redness and itchiness and apply vitamin C serum at night. I would suggest you to keep this area clean and dry. If condition doesn't get better then consult dermatologist for proper examination. Doctor will examine physically along with blood test and sample for lab test. Doctor may prescribe immunosuppressants , antibiotics like clindamycin , anti inflammatory or anti fungal . Doctor may also prescribe benzoyl peroxide ointment.
