Suggest Treatment For Itchy And Painful Spot Under The Arm

I woke up with an itching and painful bite under my arm about 2 months ago. It looked like a bulls eye. I put an ointment on it an wrap it up until it went away. At the time I thought whatever bit me I had an allergic reaction since I m allergic to so many things. Since then the arm has a pain in the joint that has never gone away. I just found out that my dogs have ticks. Never seen a tick in my life. I m concern about the pain in my arm. Do I go get tested for lime disease?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The symptoms seem to be related to an insect bite. I suggest using a steroid cream for local application. I also suggest using Benadryl for a week to relieve the itching.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
