Suggest Treatment For Joint Pain

My wife aged 40 is suffering from joint pain. Her thumb of right hand is badly affected and it is curved in side from centre. She has gone for orthopadics but of no gain. Now doctors have suggested her to meet a rheumatologist. Her blood reports, sugar tests, RA factor and x-rays are normal. She is suffering from this from last 3 years.

Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
If only the thumb is affected, it is highly unlikely that she has Rheumatoid Arthritis, as this condition affect multiple joints of hands and foot with early morning stiffness. single thumb affection could be due to Osteoarthritis, which is a degeneration arthritis. Depending on the stage treatments are available, and the best doctor to provide you with this would be a Hand Surgeon.

Orthopaedic Surgeon Dr. Vaibhav Gandhi's  Response
Hello,

I have studied your case with diligence and seen your reports.
I will advise further investigation like AACP test,HLA –B27,ANA,Ds DNA.

Possibility of rheumatoid arthritis and ankylosing sodalities can be considered

Rheumatoid arthritis may involve small joints and early morning stiffness in joints, does she have such complain?

A treatment regimen for Rheumatoid arthritis and ankylosing spondylitis involves medication, exercise, good posture practices, and other treatment options such as applying heat/cold to help relax muscles and reduce joint pain.

You may get relief by methotrexate and sazo; you can start them consulting your doctor.
Hope this answers your query. If you have additional questions or follow up queries then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your queries.

Wishing you good health.

Take care.
