Suggest Treatment For Kidney Failure Along With High BP
my mother was just sent via ambulance to a hospital that is not fully equipped to handle her symptoms so they are transporting her to another state hospital
She is 84, she is a large woman and has drastically lost 50lbs in the last 8months, currently has 6 units of blood when she should have 10, dehydrated badly, her stool was black and is now straight blood...she has had diarhea since wednesday she said...ultrasound says kidneys are swollen
her kidneys started failing last year due to medication, and she is on high blood pressure meds and fluid pills. Your thoughts?
There are many causes for kidney failure, but whatever caused it she needs to make sure that her blood pressure is controlled. Rapid weight loss like that makes doctors concerned about some form of cancer, but kidney disease can also cause this. Hopefully the doctors in the hospital can sort out what is going on with her. She will need to be on a low salt, low protein diet and adequate blood pressure medications to preserve her kidney function. I hope she is getting better soon.
