Suggest Treatment For Kidney Failure In An Elderly Person

Mom is 83, has a lymph node cancer on her right lung. She is also diabetic. Her hospice has put her on Fentanyl n morphine as need. She did refuse all radiation n chemo treatments. Her kidneys are decreasing to cloudy. Is there anything else I can do or inquire about. I'm lost. She also had a stroke 6 weeks ago.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Sorry about your mother health, what about her serum Creatinine levels? Where is the primary tumor? She may be developed diabetic nephropathy with CKD or malignancy of kidney primary followed by secondaries in the lungs. Need to control malignancy by surgical or by chemo radiation therapy. For CKD need dialysis thrice in a week. If symptoms do not improve, please consult your doctor he will examine and treat you accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
