Hi my 10 day old baby boy is totally breastfed. He passes loose motion within 10 to 15 minutes of being fed. Also he hicupps a lot. Yesterday we found something that looks like an egg in his stools. The Doctor whom we showed it to said it is nothing and just solid milk passed out. we are upset about his loose motion. Pls advice.

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi,

But everything mentioned here is absolutely normal only. Newborns will pass quite frequently for initial few weeks, especially after feeds. This is from normal gastro colic reflex. Few white or dark particles are also normal. They will have some hiccups and vomiting for 6-7 months- called physiological reflex. In short, if he is active and playful, and is feeding well, nothing to be worried. Stay confident.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Muhammed Aslam T. K., Pediatrician
