Suggest Treatment For Loose Stools And Diarrhea

I am 4 weeks post op tomorrow. Had a perforated appendix and peritonitis. I was in the hospital 6 days with IV antibiotics and took 5 days of cipro upon release. I wondered how long it takes for my GI trac to return to normal. I have had really loose stools and diarihha since i got home. I also have a lot of mucus in my stool. Still having some tenderness in my abdomen. Doc gave me flagyl yesterday. How can i be sure that the peritonitis is not coming back or that i dont have an abcess or blockage. I have some chills, but no fever. I also have an appetite and am not losing anymore weight nor showing any signs of dehydration

Hello to healthcare magic,
very often after courses with IV antibiotics people develop disbacteriosis (antibiotics attack all of the microorganisms in the human body no matter good or bad ) and this leads to diarrhea! In order to get better you should take pro and prebiotics ! If this does not help you should see a gastroenterologist ! Be careful for blood in stools and intense bowel movement !
