Suggest Treatment For Low HCG Count During Pregnancy
Hello, I am a 27 year old female, and 7 weeks pregnant. Last Monday, I went for an ultra-sound to listen to my baby's heartbeat; the Doctor could not hear it, so she asked me to go and get some blood work done to check my HCG levels. A nurse from her office called back today and said that my HCG went down from 67,000 to 45,000. What does this mean?
Absence of heart sounds even at ultrasonography and dropping hCG levels are indicative of non living baby inside your uterus. Please repeat the ultrasonography for confirmation of the diagnosis.
You will have to get admitted in the hospital for termination of the pregnancy if the intra-uterine foetal death is confirmed. Please do not delay lest the risk of clotting disorders (DIC), infection and/or kidney failure.
You may have to under go additional blood test for estimation of : 1. Bleeding time 2. Clotting time 3. Prothrombin time 4. Fibrinogen degradation products
These will suggest about the status of DIC.
I hope you got the message.
