Suggest Treatment For Low Platelet Count With Fever, Headache And Cough

Hi, I have fever with 101 deg temperature. Additionally, I have severe headache but no joint pain, cold but no cough & mild diarrhea. I visited a local doctor who suggested blood testing for CBC, Malaria parasite & Widal. The report came all good except Platelet count was 1,88,000. As per the doctor it should be above 2,00,000. Citing symtomp of Dengue, he has prescribed below medicines: Medomol 650 mg Tab 1-1-1 (10). Naprosyn 250 mg Tab 1-0-1 (6). Taxim-O 200 mg Tab 1-0-1 (6) Mondeslor Tab 1-0-1 (6) Sporlac Sachet Pwdr 1-1-1 (4) Bro-Zedex 100 ml Syp 1-1-1 Nasoclear Saline nasal spray 1-1-1 I am worried if taking so many medicines will be good for health. If some of these can be skipped, could someone please suggest. Many thanks in advance. Best Regards, Somu

Thanks for contacting with your health concern and after reviewing your history following is/are necessary guidelines:

1. Apart from low platelet count one should also search for other signs & symptoms of dengue like
. saddle back pyrexia( rise and fall of temperature)
. generalized lymphadenopthy
. ocular pain, bradycardia, splenomegaly

2. Platelet count should be in range from 1.5 - 4 lac, so I do not find anything serious (as for now), so you should check with the bleeding and clotting time

3. Instead of taxim-o go with doxycyline 200 mg and take paracetamol only (rest you can skip).
. Avoid painkillers,constipation
. use soft tooth brush,electric razor and again check with platelet count (after 1 week) and if decreasing check with an Infectious disease specialist
