Suggest Treatment For Lower Abdominal Pain And Stomach Bulging

I have a very large hiatal hernia and my stomach is bulging. I have severe lower abdominal pain. I have to hold my stomach to get out of a chair. My stomach bulges and it looks like I am carrying a child. I was told the hernia is too big to do laparoscopic surgery. I have been suffering from severe anemia and fatigue. I am on antacid medications. I was suffering from heartburn and gas. Now it is mostly gas. Because I discussed mesh repair the doctor refuses to surgically repair this hernia. I am miserable and need it repaired. What do you suggest?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi.
Thanks for your query.
Noted the history about your obesity, large bulging stomach and very large hiatal hernia wherein the Surgeon has refused to do laparoscopic mesh repair, you have difficulty in getting out of chair, have heartburn and gases.
I would suggest you the following with reasoning:
First of all consult a Dietitian and an exercise expert to get control over your obesity as this is very important for successful repair of hernia.
Once you loose substantial weight it will help a lot.
Otherwise you can consult an Obesity Surgeon to have bariatric surgery as well as repair of hernia at the same time.
This can be done.
I find this answer helpful
