Hiatus hernia causes the lower esophageal sphincter to be pushed into the thorax thereby causing frequent symptoms of regurgitation of food and chest burn or gastritis.. the treatment would be to take a combination medication Tab Pantodac DSR at night and avoid taking food two hours before sleeping. . An upright position with two pillows below the head would also be beneficial.
