Suggest Treatment For Lower Left-sided Abdominal Pain
My 14 year old daughter has had lower abdominal pain on the lower left side of her abdomin. This started this morning. She says the only way it doesn t hurt is if she lays on her right side. Has an appitite, and it doesn t hurt to eat. How do I know if it s her apendix?
Hi. Thanks for your query. Noted the history about your 14 year old daughter and understood the concerns. Appendix is on the right side hence can not cause any pain on the left side. THe commonest causes I can think about for pain in left side of abdomen in a young girl are as follows: Colitis involving left side of colon and sigmoid part of colon. Twisted ovarian cyst as the pain is relieved by laying on right side. THis can be diagnosed by the following ways: Ultrasonography of abdomen. Clinical evaluation and examination by a General Surgeon. Tests of blood, urine and stool. All these will lead a proper diagnosis so that a proper management can be done to get a proper relief.
