Suggest Treatment For Mouth Sore
My wife is on her 8th day of chantix, and there is a sore on the roof of her mouth about 1 inch in length and about 1/4 wide, raised, about 1/8 inch off the surface of her soft pallate. We can not get hold of her doctor, and we would like to know if she should stop taking the medication until Monday, when we can get hold of her primary care phyisician, or should we seek emergency room consultation?

As per your query about mouth sore on the soft palate while on medicine Chantix is due to the side effect of the medication Vareniciline. This is apthous stomatitis and it can occur due to gastric upset, flatulence, low gastric movement, constipation, decreased immunity, anxiety etc. You shouldn't worry and should continue the prescribed medication along with OTC medication for flatulence like Pantoprazole twice daily and any laxative if constipation is there.
Avoid oily and spicy food and take more liquids and juices. Other side effects of Chantix can be mood swings, nightmares, depression vomiting etc. So if there is any other major side effect like breathing difficulty you should consult the treating doctor.
