Suggest Treatment For Nausea , Vomiting And Heartburn

I have had weight loss over a year or so (35 lbs). I m 72. I also experience early satiety, and often hours after eating, I am nauseous to the point of vomiting. I had a hx of GERD at one time, but don t experience heartburn or any pain at this time, and not for a while. I was told many years ago that I had thickening of the mucous folds of the duodenum . I am currently on Domperidone to help with the food moving out of the stomach faster. Do you think this may be an ulcer, hiatus hernia, or something more sinister?

Hi.
Thanks for your query.
Noted your history of being 72 and having lost 35 lbs in one year., have early satiety, nausea, using Domperidone and I think without any good effects.
Thickened mucosal folds, in duodenum were diagnosed in past.
I think of the following considering your history.
Loosing 35 lbs for no obvious reasons means cancer has to be confirmed or ruled out.
I would advise you the following on asap basis, taking no further chances.
- Upper GI Endoscopy.
- Barium swallow and follow through, this is simple test wherein the information can be very good.
CT scan of the abdomen after washout of barium.
Tests of stool, blood and urine- rule out diabetes and thyroid problems.
All these tests together can give you the best diagnosis and best possible treatment.
