Suggest Treatment For Nephrotic Syndrome While On Rituximab
Hi . I am from India .. I have been diagnosed with nephrotic syndrome 4 years back ! I have an average protein loss of 3.5 to 4 gms ! My critinine is normal ! I have been treated with celcept and that didn t work ! Then I have been given 4 injections of Rituximab but the condition remains the same ! I am taking steorides daily and that have made me more prone to catching infections ! I suffered from Herpes zoster due to prolonged use of steorides ! I have read about medicinal Marijuana ! Does it really help ! More than my physical state my mental state has worsened and I always feel lazy and depressed ! Affects my work and personal life quite a lot ! I am always irritated and tired ! No edema or swelling yet
No, medical marijuana does not help nephrotic syndrome. It is an autoimmune disease. Sometimes it can be triggered by a chronic infection like hepatitis C in which case treating the hepatitis c so it isn't there would solve the problem. Mostly the only treatments are lowering the immune response which you are already doing.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Matt Wachsman
