Pediatrician 's  Response
Hello dear!
you are talking about a complication of meningitis that is hydrocephalus and VP shunting was done.
your child has right sided hemiplegia probably what i understood from your text.
There is no permanent cure to neuronal damage but yes you can improve the quality of life.
Physiotherapy plays an important part in this.
I would recommend to get an appointment from physiotherapist and occupational therapist in your country.
Physiotherapy can do miracles.
With the help of the splints and special shoes, they can even make the child walk normally if the response to physiotherapy is good initially.
The right leg is having disuse atrophy and it can be made to near normal with the help of regular exercises taught by physiotherapist according to the condition and the severity of illness of the child.
Hope it will help.Be blessed :-)
