Suggest Treatment For Pain And Swelling In Knee After An Injury

Hi Doctor, I was running a couple weeks ago and took a hard fall. Unable to catch myself I landed on my left knee. Today, the knee has full range of movement, however, it is still extremely sore to the touch and kneeling, even on soft surfaces is unbearable. There is a small lump, soft, and there is a burning sensation when any direct pressure is applied. Can you please help? Thank you, B

Orthopaedic Surgeon, Joint Replacement 's  Response
I have studied your case and I think there can be a soft tissue injury in the knee joint which can not be taken lightly. I would recommend you to visit a orthopaedic doctor and get your self examined by him. If there is any ligament or bony injury then he might ask you to get x ray and MRI of the knee joint. If there is any such injury then you might need a bandage or splinting.
Till you get this test and examination done, I would suggest you to avoid walking with out any knee brace. Also do not do any massage or any manipulation. If there is any pain then you can apply ice to knee joint and also you can apply voletran ointment.
