Suggest Treatment For Pain And Swelling In Upper Stomach
I have been experiencing pain and swelling in the upper part of my stomach in between my rib cage just below my breasts, this only happens after i take medicanes like theraful or daquill things of that nature or drink alcohol. It hurts so bad I vomit then it takes about 15mins for the swelling an pain to go away. What could this be?
Hi. Thanks for your query. Noted the history and understood your concerns. Pain and swelling in upper abdomen that increase on taking certain medications like Daquil an alcohol is usually due to severe form of gastritis and thus getting relieved by vomiting. I would advise you the following in such a situation: Get an upper GI Endoscopy to get the correct diagnosis. Ultrasonography of the abdomen and CT scan if needed. Test of blood particularly for liver and pancreatic functions. Tests of stool an urine. Clinical evaluation by the Gastroenterologist along with correlation of the reports will help you to get the correct diagnosis and proper management.
