Suggest Treatment For Pain Due To Bruising Of Ribs

Hi I fell badly on Tuesday landing on my ribs on a pine dresser, i don t have any shortness of breath but have severe pain in my rib cage. I have to say it is slightly better daily but I am wondering if there is anything I can do to improve the pain situation other than rest and pain killers. Regards Victoria

Dear patient
There is a possibility of rib contusion or fracture considering severity of trauma. I would advise radiograph of chest postero anterior view to rule out fracture. Apart from rest and painkillers u should wear rib belt which prevents movement of ribs and hence pain and will decrease requirements of painkillers. All the best.
