Suggest Treatment For Pain In Head After An Injury

I am a 50 year old woman and took a fall this afternoon. I struck the back of my head on the metal bed frame. I have a bump, light headache and nausea. Right after impact my head hurt more severe and I had ringing in my right ear. I took acetaminophen and still have light ache. I am tired. Do I have to wait to sleep for a certain time frame after injury?

Hello there, Welcome to Health Care Magic.

Well it seems like you've underwent a mild concussion head injury . Don't worry as its mostly self limiting. Generally the pain , tingling sensation, soreness , headache like symptoms persist from 7-10days(depending upon the severity of the injury).

However the bump takes longer times to heal (some times even months). Now to fasten the process of healing , just apply some Ice-pack or a bag of frozen peas.

Meanwhile just continue taking Tab ACETAMINOPHEN 650mg Three times a day after food for another 2-3 days, also be watchful for those danger signs of head injury(sudden onset weakness of any part of body, excessive nausea and vomiting, loss of consciousness, convulsions), if at all observed any then you need to check into your nearest ER for further management and a CT Scan of head.

Yes you can certainly take rest, and lie down and try to sleep perhaps. Just be watchful for the pattern of sleep which should not exceed more than 8 hrs or more than half of the time of your daily activities.

Take care.
If any further queries let me know.
Regards
