Suggest Treatment For Pain, Swelling And Muscle Tightness
I m 60 years old and taking Levothyroxin for thyroid, Pravastatin, Acyclovir for shingles, and Gabapentin for pain and anxiety. I have developed pain, swelling, muscle tightness in both legs especially around my knee. I m on my feet a lot and it s very difficult climb stairs, walk, get in and out of my car. Is it any of these medicines that s causing my problem? I m also female.
Dear patient Pain around both knees in your age with muscle tightness is mostly due to osteoarthritis of knee. You medications will not cause this condition. It is age related degenerative disorder in which smooth cartilage covering joint surfaces erodes and rubbing of two joint surfaces with movement leads to pain. Kindly get radiograph of both knees anteroposterior and lateral views so that diagnosis can be confirmed. Continue taking medicines. Avoid squatting and cross legged position. Visit physiotherapists and do quadriceps and hamstrings strengthening excersise.
