Suggest Treatment For Pain Under Rib Cage While Laughing Or Coughing

My husband has a sharp pain under the right rib cage, when he is laughing or caughing. For last two days he had severely upset stomach, (vomitting & diarheea), which is solved now, but right after this his pain under the rib cage started. He doesn't feel any discomfort when exercising, working in the garden, talking, etc. only when he's laughing or couthing.
