Suggest Treatment For Painful Bowel Movement And Blood In Stool

I m wondering if I should see a doctor. I m a 42 year old female. Bad digestive health runs throughout my family. My mother has diverticulitis. My older brother has Crohn s Disease. All other members seem to have self-diagnosed irritable bowel, including myself. After a regular week of diarrhea followed by constipation, I had a horrible experience where the most painful bowel movement was accompanied by nausea, and then was followed with many hours of having blood in my stool. That was about 36 hours ago. Things are now better, but I m wondering if that warrants going to see a doctor. If so, what type of doctor do I go and see? What can I expect at the first appointment?
