Suggest Treatment For Painful Knees

Hello. I am a 55 yr old woman who has XLH-vitamin D resistant rickets. I recently had trouble with my left knee. I had the torn menisus fixed and since then I have had more problems with pain than I can take. I went back to the surgeon who then gave me an injection of cortizon which has done little to relieve the pain. The surgeon explained that the ACL was over stretched and that there was no alternitives for me. He also told me that the surgery had aggrevated the arthritis, and the next step of treatment is a gel filler. Does any of this wound right?

Hi
Viscosupplementation, commonly referred to as gel injection, is an injection into the knee joint with a gel-like substance called hyaluronate, or hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid is one of the naturally occurring lubricants in a healthy knee. Gel injections are usually given after other more-conservative measures have proven ineffective. Most physicians will recommend that you first complete a course of physical therapy to increase the strength in the muscles that surround your knee. The physician may prescribe an anti-inflammatory medication or recommend an over-the-counter anti-inflammatory as part of a less-invasive approach. If exercise and medication do not control your symptoms, your physician may then recommend that you try gel injections.
