Hello, I am a 65 year old woman with diabetes. My weight is 62kg and height 1.65m. I had dysuria and has had treatment for urinary tract infection. urine cultures are now negative but I still have burning sensation when I urinate. Pap smears are also negative
Based on you introduction I would recommend Phenazopyridine HCL 200 mg three times daily for 1 to 2 days, it may change the color of your urine to orange or red, but this is normal and not a cause for concern.
People with diabetes and elderly are in great risk for recurrent infection so to prevent urinary tract infections drink cranberry juice.
If you dislike the taste of plain cranberry juice, mix it 1:1 with another juice, such as orange juice.
Drinking 6-8 glasses daily is also encouraged.
All the best!
