Suggest Treatment For Persistent Chronic Constipation And Abdominal Pain

I have has chronic constipation for years. In the past year it has been much worse. I have been taking Amatiza without a lot of success. a week ago I was having abdominal pain and tenderness. I went into DR and they took x-ray and showed a large quantity of feces backed up especially on upper right side. He increased my amitiza to the max for 4 days, took miralax and that evening a bottle of magnesium citrate, had very watery stool for several hours. Have been taking normal dose of amitiza (16 mg) since and miralax once a day. I am still having very small ribbon type stools. I do have an appointment with a specialist in 2 weeks. My question is this, Is it safe to take another dose of the magnesium citrate? Thank you.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

Consult a physician and get evaluated. You can opt for a contrast CT scan to rule out possible mechanical obstruction like strictures or tumor.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
