Suggest Treatment For Persistent Diarrhea, Sore Throat And Body Pain
yes, have had diarrhea since Monday night, with body aches, no fever. Have lost 5 -6 lbs since Tuesday morning. live in Washington DC. Have taken Pedialite and slept alot, along with Tylonol. Started with a sore throat and nasal drip. Am on the phone with my daughter , Alexis, age 33 who is the one who is sick.
Hi. Thanks for your query. Noted the history about your daughter and understood your concerns. Runny nose, sore throat, body aches and diarrhea making loose weight is indicative of a viral infection affecting the gut too. This can be bacterial infection too. This can be differentiated by the following: Send the sample of blood and stool for tests which will show if there is a bacterial infection and in this case she needs to take an antibiotic under the prescription of her treating Doctor. If there is only viral infection, symptomatic and supportive treatment needs to be given in the form of the following: Continue electrolyte solution for adults. Plenty of oral fluids to avoid dehydration. Paracetamol for fever and aches. Imodium for control of diarrhea if needed. Homemade foods and full bed rest should help her to recover faster.
