Suggest Treatment For Post Bronchitis Breathing Difficulty, Extreme Weakness And Fatigue

Three months ago my husband had bronchitis with exacerbation. After antibiotics and steroids he still has problems with breathing and he now has numbness in his leg with burning. When he gets up from sitting down he has to stand and stabilize himself before moving. He keeps falling down. He is very weak and fatigue. He is only 55 years old. The doctors don t have a clue what to do. Do you have any suggestions?

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

The difficulty breathing may imply that there are still areas of inflammation in the bronchi or lung tissue.
He may need additional courses of antibiotics and steroids.
Inhaled steroids may also be needed.

Numbness may be due to peripheral neuropathy. This refers to abnormal nerve sensations due to changes in the function of the peripheral nerves(nerves outside the brain and spinal cord).

It may not be related.
It can be temporary or permanent

Causes include: (1) vitamin b12 or folate deficiency
(2)diabetes
(3)trauma
(4)liver or kidney disease
(5)medication side effect
(6)neurological disease such as stroke or ms
(7)exposure to toxins
(8)idiopathic- cause not known
(9)some hormonal conditions
(10)decreased blood supply to the area

His doctor can consider blood tests (vitamin levels, diabetes, hormones) and also imaging of the spine (checking for nerve trauma), to see if any of these are the cause.

There are medications that may help.

I hope this helps
