Suggest Treatment For Punctured Deformed Wounds On Arm After A Pitbull Attack
I was attacked by a pit bull @230am.. he latched onto my bicep and I no longer have complete range of motion in my arm. The muscle is somewhat deformed and puncture wounds are deep. 13 hours later and the bleeding still hasn t stopped. I m wondering how likely it would be that I need surgery to restore the muscle and tendons and how long should the bleeding last. Also I don t knew what I should be taking for pain Thank you for your time Jenn
The persistent bleeding at 13 hours of bull injury indicates damage to certain blood vessels, which needs particular attention. My guidelines at present: - Primary pain relief with analgesic tablet as diclofenac sodium with antacid - Sterile saline dressing with application of hydrogen peroxide to control the bleeding - Tetanus prophylaxis if no vaccination of tetanus since last 10 years period
Visit your nearest doc for evaluation of your: @ Wound depth @ Bleeding control with suturing @ Antibiotics prescription @ Surgery of possible nerve or tendon repair @ Others
Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
