Suggest Treatment For Rashes On The Arm

Hello. I have a rash on my arm that is about 2 inches by one inch. It is red and itches. I m not sure if it is fungal or an allergic reaction. I have been treating it with OTC cortisone cream. It keeps it from itching, but it has not gone away in the last 3-4 days. Thank you, Angela

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Rashes can appear due to many reasons, mostly its the allergy to some agent or due to some micro organism, sometimes medicines cause it. In your case when application of corticosteroid ointment is not helping much then its required to know the underlying cause for the rash.

I would suggest you to see a dermatologist so that the exact cause of the rash will be known and he will advise you appropriate medicines for that as it can be of fungal origin or bacterial or due to some parasite or because of some chemical. So its best to see the doctor and get it checked. With proper medicines you will get relief from the redness and itching. Hope this helps.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
