Suggest Treatment For Rectal Bleeding

I have a friend who had some blood coming from her rectum, and some from her vaginal area not much but noticalble. Had a papsmear it was good, Doctors went in her vaginal area with a camera that turned up nothing. Her red blood count was 10 two weeks ago and today 2/11/15 it is down to 9.5. Doctors put her on a high dose vitamin 2 weeks ago, and today they are putting her on iron. She sees a gyno- on 2/16/15 hopefully they can find out why she is bleeding. She woke up last night with abdominal cramps pain level a 10. And her white blood count is also up. Any Ideas what may be going on. She still has all of her female production system, and Both breast. Had a mamogram waiting to hear from that. Thanks so much a good friend.

Dear- Thanks for taking the time to consult us at HCM. First of all, your friend could had vaginal or rectal bleeding. It looks that she had an evaluation for possible vaginal bleeding with a pap smear that was negative. However, I don't see any description of a colonoscopy, which should be done to fine the site of bleeding. The drop of hemoglobin from 10 to 9.5 is not significant and could be between the variants from one laboratory to other. I would definite request a gastroenterologist evaluation for a colonoscopy, if this is negative for bleeding, then upper endoscopy, in order to identify the cause. She can continue with the iron supplement after the colonoscopy.
I hope my advise will be helpful and feel free to contact me for any questions that you might have.
