Suggest Treatment For Recurrent Cystitis

Hi there, I keep getting reccurant cysitis, I've had ultrasound on my kidneys and bladder to check I didnt have a duplicate urethra and extra kidney. Apparently physically I am healthy. Ive just been on a course of antibiotics and I felt fine but now it feels like its coming back already. I am in a living hell with this. I am 19, no its not because of sex, it happens whenever it wants to and Im sick of missing work and feeling so crap about it...

Hello,

Treatment of recurrent cystitis depends upon the etiology. Proper diagnosis of the recurrence has to be carried out via thorough history, physical examination, supportive data of laboratory, radiology in form of ultrasound/AUG/MCU/CT IVP. According to the case, diagnostic cystoscopy may also be a part of the scene.

Strong recommendations for you:
• Drink plenty of liquids throughout the day
• Cranberry sachets with organic citrus fruits, vitamin c chewable supplements help
• Keep genitals clean, dry
• Avoid sex till recovery
• Complete all the antibiotics properly as per advise depending upon the culture report, many times half way dropped treatment is the cause of recurrence and resistance
• Avoid smoking/alcohol/any abuse substances
• Avoid stress/anxiety
• Have regular sound sleep of 7 to 8 hours
• Avoid exposure to excess heat/swimming pool waters
• Remain ambulatory with regular walking, exercises, and yoga

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel
