Suggest Treatment For Recurring Dandruff And Hair Fall While Having Seborrheic Dermatitis

I am suffering from severe dandruff since the last 2 years which is also causing massive hair fall. Initially my doctor prescribed me an overnight lotion something like the d-free available in the market (to be applied on alternate days) and minkoem lotion to be applied twice a week overnight. It worked fine for a few weeks but then the dandruff is recurring again and again. I was diagnosed with something called Seborrheic dermatitis. But till date the dandruff is still recurring.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
hi
thank you for asking your concern and welcome to hcm. yes indeed seborrheic dermatitis is somewhat recurring type of illness. there are multiple reasons causing seborrheic dermatitis so some time medication only is not sufficient. proper healthy diet, good exercise, proper cleaning, less stress, good environment all are necessary to have health hairs. but we can not control all of these. i suggest you to continue antifungal shampoo, tablets as advised but at the same time please go for diabetes screening. psoriasis of scalp, tinea capitis also mimics seborrheic dermatitis and in these conditions treatment varries. you may need to take steroids, puva therapy, griseofulvin according to diagnosis. i would suggest to consult a skin specialist and if need please have skin biopsy which will give definitive diagnosis in case of doubt. and you can do yoga for stress relief physical and mental both.
i hope i answered your concern and if you feel any doubt please ask us
regards
