Suggest Treatment For Recurring Fever And Dizziness

My granddaughter has been having reoccurring fevers. It spikes at night. Usually 103. This has been going on for a month. Her appetite has decreased. She fills a little dizzy when she stands up. When given ibuprofen, the temperature goes down but the cycle continues.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Repeated fever for a month needs to be assessed.

The most likely cause is infection but there are other causes as well. Very rarely, recurrent night temperature can be due to serious causes such as lymphoma or leukemia.

This is rare and likely not related to her but it would be best that she is assessed by physical examination and blood tests.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Michelle Gibson James, General & Family Physician
