Suggest Treatment For Red And Swollen Tibia

I have had a high medial osteotomy 8 days ago. The area running down the tibia is red, warm to touch and swollen. I also had bilateral arthroscopy where sutures were use and these areas are normal in colour, temp, and size. My question is, could my shin region be experiencing an allergic reaction to the stitches - the composition of which I do not know?

Orthopaedic Surgeon, Joint Replacement 's  Response
There cab be many causes of swelling and pain with in a week of this surgery. Most common cause is edema which is collection of fluid near by surgical area.
Other causes can be a deep vein thrombosis or a infection. I would recommend you to show it to your operating surgeon and discuss about this.
If there is any sign of infection then I would recommend you to take antibiotics.
Meanwhile keep this foot elevated.
