Suggest Treatment For Red Raised Circle Type Of Growth On Arm

My son came home from a trip out of state with a red raised circle on his arm. dad said it looked like a scratch 2 days before, but now and for the last week he has had a raised red circle about the size of a half dollar on his arm. the center is normal flesh colored. Its is about 1-2 mm thick, does not itch or bother him in anyway. I am treating as ringworm. Is there anything else it could be?
