Hi,I am Neethu Vipin (Dietitian & Nutritionist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am 72,5 feet 3 inches and weigh 59 kgs. I walk most days (not very rapidly) do an exercise class once a week and am fairly active. The problem is that I now have a fat stomach and would like to reduce it without resorting to harsh dieting. I have not tried any diet supplements to temper hunger. If I do reduce food intake I can feel almost nauseous when hungry. I understand the food pyramid and mostly eat healthy food, although in each day I feel compelled to have something sweet. I visit my GP for a check up once a year. The last few times when my blood pressure has been taken is has been a bit low---- O/E BP 99/57mmHg. What can you suggest, please?
Hello and thanks for your question. It sounds like you are very healthy. The best way to reduce belly fat is to cut back on carbohydrates in the diet. Carbohydrates are sugars and starches. Starches are foods like rice, pasta, potatoes and bread. Sugars are processed sugars but also juices and fruits. If you eat something sweet it is better to eat fruit than processed sugars. Good luck to you. Abdominal strengthening exercises can also be helpful.
