Hello, my baby just turned 1 yr. had a urinalysis done showing renal tubular cell was found on the microscopic examination. Now her pediatrician wants to do a drop urine next week. Should I be worried? She had the urinalysis done in the er due to a high fever. No uti, they think she just had a viral infection.

Urologist 's  Response
Hello and welcome to HCM.
Your concern is understandable.
Your baby could be having an inflammation in the kidney, which, usually subsides with the treatment given at present.
However, an urine culture test, and an ultrasound abdomen may be done to get a better idea, of the changes in the kidney.
Once the fever subsides, there's nothing to worry, in cases of viral fever.
You can contact me by name, if you've any other doubt.
Wishing your baby a speedy recovery.
