Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
thank you for the question. i would suggest you to meet a rheumatologist. There are several disease modifying rheumatology drugs (DMRD) in allopathy which control the disease process.but first diagnosis of joint pains has to be done with complete blood count, CRP protiens, ESR Rheumatoid factor, Anti-ccp, ASO titre, liver function tests, serum urea and creatinine, X rays of joints etc.Depending on liver and kidney status, diabetes status etc careful selection of 2 DMRD's is begun alonwith monitoring every month once.Steroids are given for acute stage but may have to be tapered down gradually as soon as the acute stage subsides.
Homeopathy, ayurvedic, acupuncture may give supportive relief but primary diagnosis and Allopathic drugs are preferable to arrest further damage to joints
Physiotherapy, fomentation, massage etc afford a good symptomatic relief and should be undertaken
I find this answer helpful
