Suggest Treatment For Sensitivity To Cold

I ve recently developed a condition, in which my hands are hypersensitive to cold and very painful when scraped, or scratched while using them. No color changes in the hands, associated with the problem and it s just a problem with my hands, not my feet. I ve recently, through dieting, lost 67lbs. Have I just lost insulation , or is this something more?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Sensitivity to cold increases when there is a decrease in blood flow to your fingers. The closely knitted nerves that are very close to the surface of the skin perceive pain & cold.

Since you have lost a lot of weight you should get a Blood workout done to check Hb%, in case of anemia your body may not have enough hemoglobin to carry oxygen-rich blood to your hands & your fingers get the pain & cold.

You should get physically checked by a GP to rule out any developing Peripheral Neuropathy or Raynaud's disease. Your treating doctor may ask you to go through Nerve conduction tests, CT & EEG.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
