Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am having surgery on my ankle on Wednesday but I have been having excruciating pain throughout my ankle since the doctor examined it today. He had x-rays done and took the top part of my temporary wrap on my foot cut open to figure how the surgery will go...then he had the nurse wrap it with an ace bandage till the surgery Wednesday. I have oxy for pain pills but it doesn’t take care of the pain. Went in earlier this evening but all they did was give me fendynol shot. I am in soooo much pain while trying to sleep. I’ve had my foot elevated since waiting for surgery. Thank you, hope you can Help. Dinah Belgarde
Since you are in discomfort wrap the ace bandage firmly but not too tightly, too tightly wrapped bandages can cause a cut to the blood supply leading to swelling.
Keep your foot raised on a pillow if you are on bed & on a stool if you are seated. Take Combiflam (Paracetamol-Ibuprofen), Naproxen or Acetaminophen to get relieve from pain.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
